Fabric Manipulation

I really enjoyed this project as it was about using different fabrics to create different techniques. When i had explored a wide range of different techniques i had to choose one final one ad then apply these too a figure of my choice.

The fastening to my sketchbook.

Roulea loops, an easy was to fasten any garment or accessory.

Manipulating loosely woven fabrics. Putting holes in it and taking out threads.

Pleating in new and interesting ways.



Quilting/ Reverse Applique. This is a great way of showing different textures and different colours.



Free machine stitching inspired by Vivienne Westwood shoes.

Basic Quilting.

Hand embroidery with applique. Different stitches including chain stitch, cross stitch, button stitch and french knots.

Frog closures using Bias cord binding.

Cut and slash, done the same way as reverse applique but in lines instead of boxes.

Applied to one of the figures as a dress.

Patisserie

Looking at a variety of different sweets from Indian Galebies, to our trustworthy Dolly Mixtures. This is where the inspiration came from for this project. I started off this project by drawing a series of images in different medias. Then i had to come up with an image which would be put on to a screen so i could do a series of prints on different backgrounds and materials.

Mr. Simms

There's nothing better than a real good old fashioned sweet shop. Think 'Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory' (the 1st movie that is). It sells everything from Jelly Beans to Aniseed Sweets. 

La Petite Maison

During a free period at college, me and some friends decided to go down to the town centre and explore. We came across this lovely small vintage styled furniture store. It sold beautiful desks and dressing tables and gorgeous full length mirrors which every girl dreams of having in their bedrooms.

Life Drawing

At first the Life drawing sessions seemed quite uncomfortable. However when you do them week in, week out then you get used to it. Drawing larger women made me concentrate on different body shapes and was trickier than just drawing a standard size 12 woman.

This is the first exercises I did, these are quick two minute drawings in very different poses.

Concentrating on facial features, i feel i got the positions of all the features right however i feel I've left out certain marks like creases in the skin.

A leaning pose, drawn with graphite and collaged with papers.

Here i have tried to concentrate on the position of the model, I feel that I have captured it rather well however i feel the hands should be bigger.

This is mt favorite life drawing piece I feel that i have used the chalk and graphite really nicely to create a tonal piece. 



Final piece done using screen printing, dying, buttons amd sullfolk puffs for the handle of the bag.



Vivienne Westwood

She once made a dress from carpet. Things like this make Dame Vivienne Westwood stand out from many other designers around today and make her such an inspiration not just for me but for many other teenagers and young adults.

My most precious treasure.

Vivienne Westwood - World's End store. This is most probably one of the most amazing stores i have been to. Very small but has a lot of charisma.

Beyonce - Why don't you love me video

Who doesn't Like Beyonce? And with a vintage inspired video like this showing that not only can she rock anything she wears today, but also shows that she would not have been any ordinary woman 50 years ago.
She truly is an inspiration for many women today!
